Dutch send biggest ever team to Winter Olympics
The Netherlands is poised to send its biggest ever team to the Winter Olympics in Sochi in February.
Maurits Hendriks, head of the Dutch Olympic effort, said on Tuesday night the team has not been officially finalised but will total at least 41 athletes, excluding reserves.
Athletes have until January 19 to qualify, so the team may be even bigger, Hendriks said. The Netherlands took 34 athletes to the Vancouver winter games.
The current line-up includes 20 long-distance skaters, 10 short-track speed skaters, five snowboarders, and two-woman bobsleigh and four-man bobsleigh teams.
