Women arrested with €400,000 in cash in their bodies
Two women from Ecuador have been arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport after they were found to be smuggling €400,000 in cash in their body cavities and luggage.
The women, aged 38 and 39 were heading for Spain but were found to be carrying €8,000 in cash in their suitcases during a customs check.
Further research showed the women had forced cash into their bodies and they were arrested. Over the next few days, they also excreted several dozen small packages of €500 notes which they had swallowed earlier.
In total, they were carrying €400,000. ‘They just kept on producing,’ a military police spokesman is quoted as saying by news agency ANP.
