More health insurers lower premiums
Health insurers VGZ/Univé announced sharply lower prices for their basic healthcare packages on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Interpolis, part of the Achmea group, said its premium would fall to €92 in 2014. It also said it would scrap a number of treatments, including homeopathy, from its top-up package.
VGZ/Univé said its basic package premium can be reduced from the current €230 because of cost controls and better deals with healthcare providers, the Telegraaf reports.
However, the €92 only applies to so-called natura policies, where patients attend doctors and hospitals approved by the insurer. A ‘restitution’ policy giving the patient more freedom of healthcare provider will cost €99.95 a month.
Of the big four providers, CZ and Menzis have yet to announce their 2014 premiums.
