Zeeland man, 90, stuck in a ditch in his invalid car for four days
A 90-year-old man from Zeeland is thought to have been stuck in a dry ditch in his invalid car for four days before someone spotted him, according to media reports.
Marinus Borst, from the village of Hulst in Zeeland, went missing on Thursday but his red invalid car was not spotted until Monday afternoon by a passerby near Clinge, local broadcaster Omroep Zeeland said.
The rescuer managed to tow the invalid car, which can’t go faster than 45 kph, out of the ditch and then alerted the emergency services. Borst was taken to hospital for observation but is thought to be in good health, the paper said.
Borst was last seen outside his house on Monday morning after dropping his wife off at a bus stop, according to a police report on the incident. His wife alerted the police after he failed to return home and it appears he had been stuck in the ditch since then, police say. Another local reported seeing the red car in the ditch but thought it was a tractor.
