Let there be light: crackdown on bikes without lamps to start

The annual campaign to ensure cyclists have proper lights on their bikes kicks off next week, RTL news reports on Friday.

Research shows half the country’s under-25s don’t have proper lamps, RTL says. Lamps which flicker or which are attached to the cyclist’s arms or legs do not meet the rules.

Cyclists caught without lights can be fined €50 and the lack of proper reflectors can add a further €35 to the bill, RTL says. The campaign will run until December 1.
