Coalition party leaders praise ‘fine’ document on budget options
Coalition party leaders said on Thursday they are optimistic about the ongoing negotiations with opposition parties on amending the 2014 spending plans.
VVD parliamentary party leader Halbe Zijlstra and Labour’s Diederik Samsom told reporters finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem has drawn up a fine, detailed document for debate.
The document will allow the CDA, D66, GroenLinks, ChristenUnie, SGP and 50Plus to decide if they can cooperate with the government and what the various options are.
The traditional finance debate was postponed this week to allow the negotiations to proceed. The government needs the support of at least one opposition party to get new legislation through the upper house of parliament.
