Abusive swimming teacher rearrested for breaking release rules
A former swimming teacher who was given a six-year jail term for abusing dozens of young girls has been arrested for breaking the terms of his release.
Benno L was picked up on Thursday afternoon. It is not clear what L had done, but according to news agency ANP, he ‘had not listened and acted in accordance with the probation service’. The public prosecution service declined to give further details.
L’s lawyer said earlier his client was finding it hard to live under the conditions of his release.
He was released in June after serving four years for abusing dozens of young girls, most of whom had mental disabilities.
He was banned from visiting ten different local authority areas where his victims live, including Den Bosch and Tilburg. He also wears an electronic tagging device.
L will appear in court on Friday.
