Members of a group of burglars, dubbed the Quote 500 gang because they targeted houses from the magazine’s rich list, have been jailed for up to six years.

The sentence for the three main defendants is in line with public prosecution demands. Seven other defendants will be sentenced later on Friday.

The public prosecutor says the gang got away with millions of euros worth of jewellery, leather goods, watches and other valuables.

Each burglary was carried out the same way, RTL reported earlier. The burglars entered the house in the evening, before the alarms had been switched on. They then went through the bedrooms looking for valuables while the owners were still downstairs.
