Dutch wine growers expect 2013 to be a good year with a promising harvest despite the slow start, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

The Netherlands has some 180 commercial grape growers, the Telegraaf said.

In total, the country has some 250 hectares of vineyards, which are capable of producing one million bottles of wine a year. Production has expanded from white wine to rose, red and sparking varieties.

Most vineyards are found in Gelderland, and Groesbeek, south of Nijmegen, is the centre of the wine trade. Some 50 Dutch vineyards are open to the public next weekend.
