Primary schools in the south reopen after summer break
The summer holiday is over for primary schools in the south of the country, with the start of the new school year.
The Netherlands operates a staggered holiday system and schools in the centre and north will return next week and the week after.
By September 1, all schools will be open again.
The introductory week for new students in Groningen, Utrecht and Leiden also kicks off on Monday, Nos television reports.
The public health institute RIVM says the measles epidemic in the southern Bible belt is likely to get a new boost with the schools opening again. So fare over 900 cases have been reported.
