New world record for Dutch swimmer Kromowidjojo

Dutch Olympic and world champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo set a new world record on the first day of the Swimming World Cup in Eindhoven, winning the 50 metres freestyle in 23.24.

Wednesday’s winning time was just 0.01 faster than the old world record, set in 2008 by Dutch swimmer Marleen Veldhuis, and is Kromowidjojo’s first individual record. The Dutch 4×100 freestyle relay team holds that world title as well.
