Kidsweek deputy editor may escape jail on child porn charges

The former deputy editor of a children’s magazine should be given 100 hours community service for possessing and distributing child pornography, the public prosecutor told a court in Utrecht on Monday.

Maarten H, who was sacked from his job at current affairs weekly Kidsweek after his arrest, should also be put on probation for six months, the prosecutor said.

A large amount of the evidence gathered by police investigating the involvement of Maarten H and his partner was ruled inadmissible in May because of police failings.

The investigation into H followed a tip-off from Interpol and began a year ago. He had worked at the magazine for 10 years.
