Free Record Shop to relaunch with 120 outlets

The independent CD retail group Free Record Shop is relaunching following June’s bankruptcy with 120 outlets and 475 staff.

Most of the shops – 70 – will be in Belgium. The Netherlands will have 47 and Luxemburg three. In total, 60 branches have been permanently shut down.

Free Record Shop was bought out by investment group ProCures and its 1971 founder Hans Breukhoven in July. The new-look shops will sell films, music and games plus headphones, a limited selection of books and gift cards. Shoppers will also be able to collect online orders.
