Anne Frank files must go to Switzerland

A large number of photos and documents which belonged to Anne Frank’s father Otto must be returned to the Switzerland-based Anne Frank Fonds, an Amsterdam court ruled on Wednesday.

The archive material was lent to the Anne Frank Foundation in Amsterdam, but the Fonds is opening a new Family Frank Centre in Frankfurt in 2016 and wants to display it there.

The Fonds, set up by Otto in 1963, and the Foundation have been at loggerheads over the archive for several years.

The Amsterdam court ruled that the documents and photos must be returned to the Fonds before January 1 2014.
