Royals made fewer (free) flights in 2012
The bill for air travel picked up by the state on behalf of the then queen Beatrix, prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima reached €782,000 last year, some €325,000 below budget, Nos television said on Wednesday.
The figures are contained in the latest annual report on government spending. The queen, her son and his wife are now the only royals allowed free flights. The agreement covers both business and personal visits.
