Good governance commission set up for public sector bosses
Former MP and GroenLinks leader Femke Halsema is heading a government commission charged with drawing up a management code of conduct for housing corporations, healthcare institutions and educational institutes.
The commission will put together a good governance framework for semi-public sector institutions following a string of scandals about pay and investment policy.
The development of a code of conduct is part of the government’s coalition agreement.
‘In some cases, it would appear that managers and regulators miss a moral compass,’ economic affairs minister Henk Kamp said in a briefing to parliament.
The commission also includes former union chief and current chairman of the InHolland college group Doekle Terpstra, writer Maxim Februari and Marco van Kalleveen from consultancy Bain & Company.
The code of conduct should be completed by October 1.
