More 65-year-olds live in residential homes

The number of 65-year-olds living in an institution has gone up 46% to 1,663 over the past four years, according to the national statistics office CBS.

At the same time, the number of 65-year-olds in the country has risen 40% to 232,000, the CBS said.

The increase is due to people who have lived their entire lives in a home and who are now turning 65, demographic expert Jan Latten told the Telegraaf.
