Frozen food giant Iglo has withdrawn packages of Chili Con Carne with rice from sale in the Netherlands after it was found to contain small amounts of horse meat.

The frozen dinner is produced by company Belgian Frigilunch and contains 2% horse, the company said.

Iglo had earlier ordered an investigation into all its meat-based products. ‘While this is not a food safety issue, it is clearly unacceptable,’ the company said in a statement.

Iglo has carried out 69 tests on its products since the horse meat scandal broke. The Chili Con Carne package is the only one found to be contaminated.

Iglo describes itself as Europe’s leading frozen food company. Its brands include Birds Eye, Iglo and Findus (in Italy only).
