Two youths aged 15 and 17 have reported to the police after security camera footage showing a gang of eight young men beating up a man in Eindhoven went viral.
The two youths are said to be from Belgium, local television station Omproep Brabant said. The broadcaster aired the footage as part of a regional crime show on Monday, after which it was picked up on social media networks.
The apparently unprovoked attack took place on January 4. The 22-year-old victim was hit and kicked by several of the eight-strong group after they marched down the street on ‘a war footing’. He suffered severe concussion and injuries to his mouth and jaw.
Police spokesman Jordi Cebrian described the attack as ‘cowardly’ and said more arrests will now follow.
