Mother of dead Russian activist asks queen Beatrix for help
The mother of a Russian activist who killed himself in a Dutch deportation centre last week has written to queen Beatrix asking for the monarch’s help to find out what happened to her son.
The letter, written to Beatrix as ‘queen and a mother of three children’, calls for ‘independent research’ into the circumstances surrounding the death of Aleksander Dolmatov, according to the Volkskrant report.
Ludmilla Doronina also states that: ‘so far I have had to find out what happened to my son via the media. No-one from the Dutch side has met me to answer my questions.’
Junior justice minister Fred Teeven said at the weekend he had ordered an investigation into the suicide.
