Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel, who made her name in the soft porn Emanuelle films, has died at the age of 60 from oesophageal cancer.

Kristel, who had a stroke in June this year, had been suffering from cancer for some time. She appeared in over 50 films but is best known for the French language Emanuelle series in the 1970s.
She died in her sleep on Wednesday evening and will be buried in a private ceremony, the actress’ management said in a short statement.
Kristel leaves a son, whom she had together with writer Hugo Claus.
