Civil engineering groups Haskoning and DHV to merge
Civil engineering and project management companies DHV and Haskoning are to merge, creating one of the biggest independent non-listed companies in the sector in the world.
The new entity, named Royal Haskoning DHV, will be based in Amersfoort and have an 8,000-strong workforce. The merged group will have annual revenue in excess of €700m. DHV’s chief executive Bertrand van Ee will lead the new entity.
‘The synergy between the two companies is enormous. We have worked together on projects before, but this is a whole new ball game,’ said Haskoning chairman Erik Oostewegel, pointing to the current alliance between the two firms in flood prevention work on the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.
Both Royal Haskoning and DHV are independent, trust-owned, non-listed companies.
‘The transaction will be a merger of equals, whereby the new company will also remain independent and wholly trust-owned,’ the two companies said in a statement.
