Man died in Beverwijk police cell of heart failure
A 22-year-old man found dead in a police cell in Beverwijk earlier this month died of heart failure, according to a post mortem examination by the Dutch forensic institute.
The man had a damaged heart muscle and a heavy heart, both of which can lead to heart failure. In addition, he had been taking cocaine, the post mortem showed.
There had been claims by family and friends that the man was the victim of police brutality.
