Dutch cultural institutions look to Britain for cash
Three major art institutions have joined forces to find sponsors in the UK, reports the Volkskrant. It is the first time cultural institutions have worked together to attract private financing.
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Nederlands Dans Theater and the Mauritshuis set up the fund, The Dutch Masters, in December 2010 and already has twelve members in London who have donated €78,000.
The sponsors are British art lovers and collectors, Dutch expats and a representative of ING in London. They each donate a minimum of £5,000 a year in return for which they are invited to an exclusive annual event and performances and exhibitions given by the three institutions in England.
