Commuters warned of tricky roads on Monday, heavy frost expected

Motoring organisation ANWB is warning drivers of very slippery conditions on some roads on Monday morning, but says the rush hour will be less busy than normal because of the Christmas holidays.

More overnight snow is expected in Limburg, Gelderland and Brabant with a dusting possible elsewhere, according to weather bureau KNMI. Groningen will remain dry, the KNMI said .
Temperatures were set to drop to as low as -10 Celsius in northern areas overnight. Mist is possible in places.

Schiphol

Schiphol airport is still warning travellers to check for delays and cancellations before leaving home.
While all Schiphol’s runways were open on Sunday night, snow elsewhere in Europe is still causing major disruption at some destinations. In particular, thousands of passengers have been stranded in Paris, Frankfurt, London and Brussels.
People whose flights have been cancelled are being asked to contact their airline rather than leave for Schiphol.

Railways

Dutch Rail (NS) said on Sunday evening that problems in and around Utrecht have been resolved. However, reduced services are operating in much of the country.
International services have not been affected, NS said.
Monday will be mainly dry with some sunny spells, the KNMI said. Tuesday will be similar but the thaw is set to begin on Wednesday.
