Wilders ‘can say what he likes’ at Ground Zero
PVV leader Geert Wilders is free to say whatever he likes during Saturday’s protest at plans to build an Islamic cultural centre two blocks from Ground Zero in New York, CDA leader Maxime Verhagen said on Thursday evening.
Verhagen, who is caretaker foreign minister, will listen to the speech and will distance himself and the CDA from remarks which go too far, Verhagen told Nos tv.
Liberal leader Mark Rutte said he would not listen to the speech and was not worried about it. ‘If Wilders goes too far, the VVD and CDA will distance themselves, but we should be a bit relaxed about it all,’ Rutte said.
The three parties are hoping to resume their efforts to form a right-wing government next week.
