Winter flu death total lowest in 10 years
Just 61 people have officially died of flu in the Netherlands since April 2009, Nos tv quotes the national statistics office CBS saying.
All of the deaths were due to swine fever.
And although the real total is likely to be higher than 61, this winter was exceptionally mild in terms of flu deaths, Roel Coutinho, of the national centre for disease control said.
In a normal winter, some 700 people die of flu.
The Nos did not comment on whether the anti-swine flu vaccination programme may have contributed to the low total.
