Dogs, cats and other pets will attend church on Sunday to be blessed by a priest at the Heilig Hart church in Schiedam in a special service to mark World Animal Day, reports the AD newspaper website.

‘Animals are very important to people, but also to God,’ the church council is reported as saying.
World Animal Day is held every year on the anniversary of the death of the Roman Catholic patron saint of animals, Saint Francis.
