No longer school holidays to fight swine flu

Schools’ summer holidays will not be extended as a measure to fight the spread of swine flu, report various media on Friday.

The public health institute RIVM said yesterday that this was one of the steps being considered.
But the home affairs, health and education ministries involved in drawing up an action plan to tackle the pandemic have now decided against the move.
They say that keeping schools closed would generate too many problems, especially for working parents.
Schools in the north of the country re-open on August 17.
