Crime rate fell 4% last year: AD survey

The number of reported crimes in the Netherlands fell 4% last year, according to the AD newspaper’s annual crime statistics survey.

The number of reported muggings, public order offences, car theft and business premise burglaries was down, while armed robberies and pickpocketing were up 17% and 6% respectively, the AD said.
While the number of reported crimes was down at 740,407, people’s readiness to report crime was unchanged, the AD said. This means the Netherlands had become a safer place, the paper stated.
The full report, including a city ranking, will be published on Saturday.
