Marianne Vos takes world cycling title

Marianne Vos took the world cyclo-cross cycling title on Sunday in a bitterly cold Hoogerheide in the province of Noord-Brabant.

‘We should have these [events] in Holland more often,’ Vos told website Velo News, recalling that her last title was won in the Netherlands, in 2006.
Cyclo-cross involves completing a number of short laps over varying terrain – pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to dismount and carry the bike.
