Finance ministry considers safe bank

The finance ministry is to look into setting up a special safe bank for savings, finance minister Wouter Bos said during a lecture at Erasmus University in Rotterdam on Monday.

Bos said he is seriously considering setting up such a bank, like the German Sparkasse, where people could deposit their savings without running risks.
The Dutch government guarantees savings of up to €100,000, but that guarantee is due to expire in October, the Volkskrant reports.
