One in 39 babies comes from a test tube
One in 39 babies born in the Netherlands in 2007 originated in a test tube, says Friday’s Volkskrant. In 1996, the figure was one in 11,000.
The Netherlands has 13 IVF units which carry out over 16,000 treatments a year.
Just under 25% of treatments result in a live birth, the paper says. In 1996, the proportion of successful treatments was 18%.
