Dutch workers most stressed in Europe
Dutch workers are the most stressed in Europe according to a survey of 800 companies in 24 countries, reports free newspaper Spits! on Tuesday.
Employees at 76% of Dutch firms named stress as one of the top three reasons for taking a day off compared to 52% in the rest of Europe, according to research bureau Mercer.
One of the reasons for the high levels of stress in the Netherlands is the country’s work ethos, Pieter Rodenburg, chairman of the Dutch association for company doctors, tells the paper.
‘We are perfectionists, involved and eager. The down side is that we are sensitive to stress,’ he is quoted as saying.
