60% more expensive to travel high speed
Train tickets for the high speed line due to go into service between Amsterdam and Rotterdam in July 2009 will cost €39.30 return, 60% more than the price of an ordinary Dutch rail (NS) ticket.
For the extra money travellers will make the journey in 43 minutes, compared with the current 63 minutes, says news agency ANP.
There will however be a discount for people booking online, says ANP. These will cost €10.80 for a single, compared with €13 for the regular intercity.
