Hoax tv kidney donor show wins Emmy

The controversial hoax tv programme De Grote Donorshow has won the international Emmy Award for non-scripted entertainment.

Screened in May 2007 by public broadcaster BNN as a reality show, the programme focused on three kidney patients competing for the kidneys of a terminally ill woman.
Presenter Patrick Lodiers dedicated the award to all the people on the waiting list for organ donation and called on the Dutch government to introduce a new system for donor registration.
In October, investigative reporter Peter R de Vries won an international current affairs Emmy for his programme on missing US teenager Natalee Holloway.
