Ministry, contractor blamed for A73 trouble
Both the transport ministry and private sector construction firms seriously under estimated the complexity of the new tunnel security system on the A73 near Roermond, transport minister Camiel Eurlings told MPs on Tuesday.
Numerous problems with tunnel security have led to road closures and long traffic jams.
The tunnels will now be closed between August 2 and 16 for repair work, Eurlings said.
