Too many emergency debates, says CDA

Christian Democrat MPs want a review of the way parliament decides to hold emergency debates because they are often held in response to ‘one-off incidents and hypes’.

CDA MP Jan Schinkelshoek wants to repeal the rule which says an emergency debate can be held if 30 out of the 150 MPs agreed.
Before the rule was introduced there were a couple of emergency debates a year, now there can be two or more on the same day, says news agency ANP.
