Deloitte to face Ahold investigation
Justice ministry officials are to investigate whether Deloitte & Touche accountants withheld information about its auditing of supermarket group Ahold’s books, the advocate general Peter Greve said on Monday.
Greve was speaking at the first day of the appeal by three former Ahold executives, sentenced to suspended jail terms in 2006 for their role in the book-keeping scandal. ‘We want to know if Deloitte & Touche staff committed criminal offences,’ Greve is reported as saying by the Financieele Dagblad.
A spokesman for the accountants group told the paper it had not kept anything back and would cooperate fully with the investigation.
