Racist murder was not racist, says killer

The 1983 murder of 15-year-old Antillian Kerwin Duinmeijer did not have a racist motive, his killer Nico Bodemeijer told tv programme Profiel on Wednesday night.

The murder, committed in an Amsterdam snack bar when Bodemeijer was 16, caused a national outcry and is always regarded as the first Dutch racist murder since World War II.
‘The fact he was black was irrelevant. It could just as well have been someone else,’ Bodemeijer, a skinhead at the time, told the programme.
Friends and anti-racist campaigners hold a memorial march for Kerwin every year.
