Electricity prices set to rise
At least two of Holland’s three largest energy suppliers may increase the consumer price for gas and electricity prices from July 1 as a result of the sharp rise in raw materials such as gas, coal and oil, reports today’s Financieele Dagblad.
The biggest company, Essent, has confirmed to the paper that prices will go up and says it will announce the new tariffs on July 1.
The number two, Nuon, says it has not yet decided whether higher costs will be passed on to customers.
Eneco says customers who do not have fixed term contracts with it will face price rises from July 1.
The price of electricity on the Dutch wholesale market has gone up 18% this year, says the Financieele Dagblad.
