Chemical firm DSM expects record year

Chemical firm DSM said on Tuesday that it expects to book record profits this year despite the less optimistic economic forecast for 2008.

The company announced a 27% increase in net profit to €162m and a 10% rise in turnover to €2.3bn in the first quarter.
Organic sales growth went up 14% due to strong business positions and favorable market conditions, the company said.
