Consumer confidence drops sharply

Dutch consumer confidence in the economy fell sharply in February, the national statistics office CBS said.


The index fell from -4 to -10, the same level as in January 2006, the CBS said.
Economist Michiel Vergeer told news agency ANP that the recent upheavel on the stock exchange and knock-on effect of the US credit crisis had had an affect.
