New measures mooted to tackle top pay
Junior finance minister Jan Kees de Jager is considering introducing an extra corporate tax on ‘excessive’ executive pay packets, the Financieele Dagblad reported on Wednesday.
Also under investigation are heavier taxes on investment fund managers’ share and options deals and changes to pension tax relief for high earners, De Jager told the upper house of parliament on Tuesday.
The measures would meet the wishes of the population at large to tackle the ‘excessive rewards which some (less well-performing) managers receive,’ the FD reported De Jager as saying.
De Jager said it would be several weeks before his research into the various options was completed.
