VVD talks tough on immigration

The right-wing Liberal party (VVD) has drawn up a 28-point plan to toughen up asylum laws, ban dual nationality, slash the number of low-skilled immigrants and reduce the number of ‘imported’ brides.

Claims that the party is trying to compete with the anti-immigration PVV and Rita Verdonk’s new party were dismissed by MP Henk Kamp as ‘not interesting’.
The Volkskrant says the central message of the report is that Muslims are free to practice their religion but that ‘the Netherlands is not an islamic country and must never become one’.
