Veldhuis sets 50 metres freestyle world record
Dutch swimmer Marleen Veldhuis broke the world record for the 50 metres freestyle at the world championships in Berlin on Saturday, taking the race in 23.58 seconds.
It is the first individual world record for the 28 year old swimmer.
On Sunday Veldhuis set a new European record in the 100 metres freestyle in 52.14 seconds.
