European competition commissioner Neelie Kroes approved KPN’s €766m takeover of IT services company Getronics on Monday.

The overlap between the two companies is limited and there will still be sufficient competition in the market following the takeover, she said.
The deal still requires approval from Getronics shareholders, says ANP news service. KPN has said it will only go ahead if at least 80% of the shares are offered by the end of the bidding period which closes on Friday.
