Flemish dentists flood to the Netherlands

Dozens of newly-qualified Belgian dentists are setting up in the Netherlands because of better pay and working conditions, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

A spokesman from the Flemish dental association said half of last year’s 80 graduates came to the Netherlands.
The Telegraaf said while 400 people qualify as dentists every year in Holland, half of them are from abroad and there is a growing shortage of home-grown dentists.
The increase in demand for dentists is partly due to the increasing popularity of cosmetic dentistry such as teeth whitening and partly because older people keep their own teeth for longer.
