Reporter chains herself to Hugh Grant

Film star Hugh Grant says he is not going to take any legal action against the Dutch TV reporter who handcuffed herself to him at the premier of his new film Music and Lyrics in Amsterdam on Friday night.

Photos of a bemused-looking Grant clutching a round yellow cheese and with one hand cuffed to Cielke Sijben have appeared on gossip websites all over the world.
Described as a ‘fan’ in most reports, Sijben actually works for 101 TV, a digital broadcaster and part of BNN, which was apparently filming the entire event. The role of 101 TV is, according to the BNN website, to get rid of stuffy traditions, old-fashioned ideas, and dull viewing.
To see if Friday’s events actually achieve this, you can check out the entire event, including Sijben’s arrest and removal from the scene by police, online. One Telegraaf reader commented that he was at school with Sijben and she was a wannabe attention grabber then as well.
