Red-light peepshows in which women are paid by the minute to perform sex shows behind glass are officially defined as theatre performances, the Telegraaf reports today.

The appeal court has ruled that the shows are theatre because they are attended by a number of paying customers and therefore the same low VAT rate should apply. The case was brought by a peepshow owner who had been ordered to pay thousands of euros in tax.
